This drill allows players to practice staying low when fielding ground balls.
Having a coach around will make this drill easier but it can be done solo with a wall or a pitching machine that can throw ground balls.
The coach or pitching machine should throw ground balls towards the player and the player is going to retrieve them while staying low to the ground. Form is important in this drill: keep the head and glove low to the ground while moving the legs. Do not bend at the hips, this makes catching and throwing the ball much harder. Get into the legs, make the catch, secure the ball, and throw it back.
