The Square/Open/Regular Soft Toss Drill is a progression drill that focuses on isolating the upper half of the body.
The coach should be behind an L-Screen. The player will begin squared up with the chest angled towards the coach.
- The coach will begin tossing balls to the player.
- The player will pull back, rotate, and hit the ball. The player should focus on driving through the ball and keeping the hands above the ball.
- For the second progression of this drill, the player will move to an open position. Repeat the throw and hit.
- In the last progression of this drill, the player will move to a normal batting position. Repeat the throw and hit.
