This drill allows players to slow down and really focus on their footwork for each type of routine ball.
Setup
Six markers or cones are used on the ground to mark the routine balls that a fielder might see. One row of markers should be placed directly in front of the player as well as left and right of the player roughly 8-10 feet apart. The player begins behind the center back most marker.
Drill Instructions
The coach should yell out a type of routine ball. The player should imitate the catch and then focus on their footwork to make the throw either at the coach or at a specified target. This move is great for getting proper timing and footwork down for making excellent throws after securing the catch.
