The Goalie Drill mimics real game situations and helps players fine-tune their form while making quick decisions.
Setup
Use two cones or any two objects that can be used to form an imaginary “goal” line. The two objects should be setup 15-18 feet apart behind the player. The player will set up with their heels on the imaginary “goal” line.
Drill Instructions
The coach will rapid-fire toss or fungo baseballs to the player in various sections of the “goal” area. The player’s job is to not let any balls cross the goal line.
The player should be forced to make quick decisions on how to field the ball. Balls should be thrown in rapid succession and in different areas so the player must move to make the catch.
