This drill allows players to practice getting behind the baseball and finding a good 4-seam grip.
The player begins on their knees in a kneeling position. The coach stands 10 – 12 feet away from the player.
The coach is going to throw the ball right in the zone of the player. The player should work on getting behind the ball and centering it. The player should make the catch and work on getting a 4-seam grip before either flipping the ball down or back to the coach. Players should practice catching the ball closer to their bodies so that their hands do not have to travel as far to get their grip and throw the ball.
