The Top Hand/Bottom Hand Extension Drills give the player a good feel for what both arms should be doing through a swing.
Setup
This drill can be done with an insider bat or any other bat. The tee should be set up at belt height. The player will begin in launch position and then remove their top hand from the bat.
Directions
- When ready, the player is going to plant the heel of their front foot to begin the swing.
- The player should begin to rotate the hips forward. Keep the bat touching or close to the shoulder until the knob of the bat is lined up with the pitcher and fire.
- For the second part of this drill, the player will set up the same way except they will remove their bottom hand from the bat and repeat steps 1 and 2.
