The Rocker Pitching Drill works on landing with good hip and shoulder separation.
The player should get into a super-wide stance as if they were in their landing position. The front foot and hips should be pointed toward the target.
- First, the pitcher should rock their body forward.
- Then the body will rock backwards.
- Next, the player should make the pitch.
The Rocker Pitching Drill is a controlled move. Players do not need to use more than 50% of their throwing ability to do this drill. The player should feel the lower half of the body and the shoulders working independently of each other.
