Baseball Tools Practice Plans : 4 Week Training plans

Practice week 3: Day 1 & 2

Station Rotations - 1.5 Hour Practice

Baseball station rotations splits players into different three different groups, keeping them engaged and rotating through hitting, fielding and baserunning drills. If you have determined who your pitchers and catchers will be, this week you should designate time to discuss fundamentals, strategy and expectations during the warm-ups. During fielding stations, give each pitcher and catcher time to man those positions.

These practice plans are an outline and flexible. Change however you see fit to your coaching philosophy.

Today's Points of Emphasis - 3 Minutes

Players can be stretching during this time.
Emphasis #1: Perfection is unattainable and not expected. Things players can control are effort and preparation.
Emphasis #2: Repitition builds confidence.

Tip of the Day - 2 Minutes

In baseball you will fail, but failure is only a setback when you do nothing about it. Stay focused on your goals, have fun, learn from mistakes and be better than you were yesterday.

Throwing Warm-Ups - 10 Minutes

Have players pair up with a partner to complete the throwing warm-ups.

Station Rotations (Split your team into three groups)

Now that your team knows which drills they should be doing from week 2, you can trust them during station rotations. If you have assistant coaches, split them up to help with each station. If you don't, you will have to put a player in charge fo time management for the hitting and baserunning stations, while you coach fielding.

Group 1: Hitting Station - 20 Minutes

The purpose of these hitting drills is to keep players moving and engaged. Have players make 10 solid swings per drill to ensure they get through each of them, and have them continue to rotate until the time is up.
