The mini wiffle ball drill increases hand-eye coordination by using a small whiffle ball which requires players to focus in order to make the catch.
Setup
This drill can be done without a glove or with a mini glove to increase the difficulty. The player and the coach, or pitching machine, should begin 6 to 10 feet apart.
Drill Instructions
The coach will begin by throwing the mini wiffle balls at the player. The player will catch the balls and then drop them. The wiffle balls can also be thrown using short hops to practice fielding.
The small size of the mini wiffle balls makes it more difficult to make the catch, requiring the player to focus. To increase the difficulty, try using a mini glove or having the player close one eye.
